Kairos exists to revolutionize the transition from foster care to independent adulthood by creating exceptional creative apprenticeship pathways that recognize the inherent strengths of care-experienced young people. We don't just provide job training—we architect comprehensive journeys that honor each young person's resilience, amplify their unique potential, and establish the foundation for lifelong professional success.
Through apprenticeships that combine industry-leading skill development with coaching and mentorship support, we transform what society often views as disadvantage into workplace excellence. Every young person who enters our program leaves identity, creative networks, and the confidence to shape their own destiny.
About Us
Our Foundation Story
From care to costume
Kairos was born from the intersection of lived experience and unwavering belief in human potential. Our founder's journey through the foster care system through to a career in costume design for film and tv provided intimate understanding of both the profound challenges and hidden strengths that define the care experience.
Having navigated the complex transition from institutional care to independent adulthood—experiencing firsthand the gaps in support, the assumptions about capability, and the extraordinary resilience required for survival—our founder recognized that care-experienced young people possess remarkable abilities that employers desperately need, yet rarely have the opportunity to discover.
This understanding sparked a revolutionary approach: rather than focusing on deficits or barriers, Kairos was designed to identify, develop, and showcase the exceptional talents that emerge from the care experience. We believe that those who have successfully navigated foster care systems, multiple placements, and complex transitions have developed skills that cannot be taught in traditional educational settings—skills that represent the future of work in an increasingly dynamic global economy.
